Students seeking admission to institutions of higher learning receive academic advisement and assistance in the preparation of essays, correspondence, and applications. UEC's TOEFL course is designed to prepare college-bound students for the Educational Testing Service's new 'internet-based' Test-of-English-as-a Foreign Language Examination,the 'IBT' and the City University of New York's 'admission test'

UEC's faculty are broadly educated humanists whose language abilities are second-to-none. Many of our faculty are active members of several international scholarly organizations including the Modern Language Association (MLA), and the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA). Pending certification applications have been made to the consortium of University & College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP).
